I’ve been to lots of launches lately: the Forty South Short Story anthology was launched at the beautiful Hadleys in Hobart, with a Q&A with Chris Gallagher and the 5 finalists present (myself included); then the Eltham Bookshop event with a discussion between Sofie Laguna and Michelle Wright on her recently launched short story collection, Fine, a collection encompassing the plethora of human failings, heartaches and yearnings – a collection that reminds us of what it is to be human; and then at Readings, Carlton, the launch of Shibboleth, the anthology of short stories from the Margaret River competition, with readings from Melanie Cheng, Chloe Wilson and Kate Glenister. I haven’t started reading this collection as yet, but if the stories read that night are any indication then the collection promises much.

Lots of good literature around at the moment. I have a mountain of books to read and keep adding to it – not a bad state to be in:)
